Burmese is the official language of Myanmar (Burma). It is spoken as the first language by 33 million native Bamar (Burman) people and related ethnic groups. The language belongs to the Southern Burmish branch of the Sino-Tibetan languages and is the most widely spoken of the non-Sinitic Sino-Tibetan languages. The language is not ideographic. That is, it does not have characters which originated as pictures, but an alphabet, of eleven vowels and thirty-two consonants, derived from the Pahlavi script of South India.

Portuguese is the 6^th most spoken language after Mandarin, Spanish, English, Hindi and Arabic according to the number of native speakers in the world with around 204 million native speakers. Portuguese, a Romance language which has its origin in Latin is official language of seven countries, Brazil, Portugal, Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe. In India, Portuguese language is spoken by a number of inhabitants of Goa which was a Portuguese colony until 1961.

The Zhuang/Chuang languages are mainly spoken by the Zhuang people. Most speakers of this language live in the People’s Republic of China, where Standard Zhuang is an official language. There are over one million speakers of Zhuang Language in China’s Yunnan province. The Zhuang languages have been written in Sawndip which is an Old Zhuang script, for over a thousand years.
